Type II collagen is the predominant form of collagen in the sternal cartilage and accounts for approximately 60% of the dry weight of the cartilage. Dietary supplements that contain collagen type II, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin sulfate may be beneficial during aging and treating joint diseases.
